Change in planning of Port Saeed area

DUBAI - Shaikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai, UAE Minister of Finance and Industry and Chairman of Dubai Municipality, approved the amendment to the planning of Port Saeed area (part of block 129), located between Union Road, Al Muraqqabat Road, Abu Baker Al Siddique Road and Al Maktoum Road.

Meanwhile, Hussein Nasser Lootah, Assistant Director General for Building Affairs at the municipality, announced that the concerned authorities in the civic body have studied the current situation of the area, the social and economic factors and prepared a number of alternatives. The municipality has discussed the issue with owners before taking the decisions, he added.

According to the redevelopment plan, the first floor would provide for the parking area and two upper storeys for residential and office units. If the area of land were more than 10,000 square feet, the first floor would provide parking area and three upper storeys for residential units and offices.

Also, the plan requires the owner to construct the building in accordance with the local architecture. Mr Lootah said that the municipality would soon start paving the roads, plantation of greenery and the construction of parking spaces.
