Thirty-one children participated in the DSS sponsored event with models showcasing M.H. Al Shaya's, Mother Care and Tammy summer styles. Many visitors commented on the grace and style with which the children sashayed down the ramp.

"I think it's a brilliant idea to include children in the festivities as they otherwise feel left out of such events. My five-year-old was a bit apprehensive at first but seeing her light up the stage with her confidence made me as proud as any parent can be," said an excited K. Mohammed, parent of one of the participants. Modhesh, the much loved mascot of the DSS, was also present during the show and even joined in the festivities in a dance with the children at the end of the show.

The clothes consisted of light summer styles which were roomy and comfortable and each model had special hair accessories as well as other accessories that matched the mood. The bright and colorful attires were in colours such as yellow and cool whites for the girls and comfortable jeans and shirts for the boys.

Maryam Arhama, Kids Fashion Show Supervisor, DSS, said: "We wish to thank Deira City Centre for hosting the shows. Those fashion shows attract a lot of people, especially mothers who love to follow kids fashion trends. We prepared in advance to ensure that the show was seamless and perfect. The group has been trained to present colourful outfits that suit the summer and some of these outfits include daily wear."

Professionals from the Scenez Group trained the children for the show.

The music and lights, organised by Prisme International also contributed to the light hearted feel of the show. The surprise end of the show, was when Modhesh walked onto the stage with members of the Modhesh Friends Club. On Sunday, the show featured children wearing NEXT and Limited 2. Today will be the last day of the Summer Kids Fashion Show, sponsored by Debenhams at the Deira City Centre at 8.30pm.

CARTOON'S PARTY

A party where the children will dress up as famous cartoon characters will be organised at the Oasis Centre on July 14.

Rabia Arhama, Corporate Service Manager and Events Supervisor, DSS, said: "A party based on cartoon characters is part of the efforts of the DSS Office to encourage the children and enhance their talents and skills besides helping them compete and achieve excellence by way of workshops and competitions."

The party will go a long way in boosting the creativity of the children, giving them an ideal opportunity to participate in a fun-evening, along with their friends, which will help spruce up their abilities.

The party, which will be organised from 4pm, will showcase a world of exciting events, workshops, competitions and games.

To create an atmosphere of fun and competition, the children will also be required to put together their famous cartoon characters. At the party, the kids can wear costumes of their favourite cartoon characters and take part in a parade, which will be one of the highlights on the day.
