Sources said the municipality was coordinating with other municipalities and departments after the Saudi Ministry for Trade and Industry banned seven brands of Chinese toothpastes as they contained poisonous residues.

Earlier, the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) warned consumers not to consume farm-raised Chinese seafood as it contained potentially harmful residues.

After the warnings, the Abu Dhabi Food Control Authority (ADFCA) carried out inspections throughout the emirate and confirmed that the farm-raised seafood was not available in the capital’s markets but cautioned to double-check while using Chinese food and any commodity of daily use.

The FDA reported that the farm-raised sea food contained antimicrobial agents that are not approved for use in the United States as they could leaed to a number of ailments.
