CME hours: MoH warns dentist

A dentist, I.S.J., was issued a final warning yesterday for failing to meet the CME hours accredited by the Ministry of Health (MoH), according to Dr Ibrahim Ali Al Qadi, Director of the Private Medical Practice at the MoH.

“The dentist used to attend scientific programmes and symposia on medical issues irrelevant to dentistry. The Medical Licensing Committee at the MoH decided to issue a final warning to him. If the violation continues, the doctor will be banned permanently from practising in the country,” said Dr Al Qadi.

The official asked doctors not to attend medical conferences that deal with topics irrelevant to their specialisations. Accredited hours of CME will be given only for conferences that match specialisations of the attendees, he said. The CME programme has been designed by the MoH as a prerequisite for renewing licences of medical practitioners. The programme aims at enhancing the competency level of the practitioners in the UAE.
