Complaint boxes to be put up at 100 UAQ stories

UMM AL QUWAIN — The Economic Department in Umm Al Quwain has provided complaint boxes for consumers in nearly 100 stores, where they can register their grievances against any exorbitant prices being charged for the products.

The move comes as part of a campaign launched by the federal Ministry of Economy to protect consumers from any abnormal price hikes.

A source at the Economic Department in Umm Al Quwain said complaint boxes had been distributed at stores in Umm Al Quwain city, Falaj Al Muala, Al Raefah and Al Salamah.

He added that the stores would be placing the boxes in such way that they would be easily accessible to consumers.

The Director General of the Economic Department, Dr. Abdullah Ahmad Musafar, said the people could also call at the toll-free telephone No. 8007002 to register their complaints against against abnormal prices being charged by the stores.

He added that the Economic Department would also be launching a poster campaign to raise awareness on consumer protection issues.

He informed that the Department had also earmarked a mobile number, 0502780404, and a fax number, 0607663322, for receiving any complaints. Consumers can also email their complaints to the department at ecadept_UAQ@hotmail.com.
