Abu Dhabi — Under the patronage of the President, His Highness Shaikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Dr Rashid Ahmed bin Fahd, Minister of Environment and Water, on Tuesday announced the details of the country’s celebrations of the 18th National Environment Day, which falls on February 4 every year.
During a Press conference held on the sidelines of Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week, Bin Fahd extended his thanks to Shaikh Khalifa for sponsoring the event and his continued support for the efforts made by the UAE in the field of preservation and development of the environment.
He also thanked His Highness Shaikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, and Their Highnesses the Supreme Council Members and Rulers of the Emirates, who give due care to the environment making the UAE one of the leading countries in the field of the environment at both regional and international levels.
The celebration is a national occasion that seeks to raise the level of environmental awareness among the various segments of society with the pertaining environmental issues, and encourage their contributions to national efforts to achieve sustainable development in the country.
The UAE will celebrate the occasion under the theme of “Green Economy Innovation and Sustainability” for the second year in a row, confirming the importance of the green economy as one of the sustainable development paths.
