The first accused, who offered the bribe, proved to be an Omani fisherman, identified as Darwish Abdullah Al Blushi. The dishonest employee took the requisite documents and promised to issue the required trade licence in cooperation with another Omani, identified as Abdullah Saif Al Rais, a driver with the DNRD.
A trap was set for the accused, who were all nabbed red-handed. They admitted that they had taken bribes from other establishments too. They were all referred to the prosecution, which charged them with bribery, and prayed that they be penalised in accordance with the rulings of the Islamic Shariah, and the related articles of the Federal Penal Code. The Dubai Criminal Court yesterday started the first hearing.
