On an order from the Ministry of helath’s Sharjah Medical District, the machine was delivered recently to provide health services to the people of Dhaid and surrounding areas.

Shaikh Mohammed bin Saqr Al Qasimi, Director of Sharjah Medical Zone, said: “The CT scan machine is important for Dhaid hospital because it is located at many crossroads.” The hospital is located on major roads going to Al Ain, Hatta, Ras Al Khaimah and Fujairah. “Often the hospital receives several accident cases, and in most cases there is need to do a CT scan,” explained Shaikh Mohammed.

Last year, the hospital turned away at least three road accident victims who need a CT scan because there was no equipment. Also, a number of staff has resigned from the hospital due to various factors, said officials.

Training workshops for technical staff have also been held on a similar device placed in Khalifa Hospital in Ajman.

The chief of Radiology Department at the hospital said that the machine is a sophisticated one and can check the patient quickly while delivering image clarity.
