Cyber-stalking student held for exploiting over 200 girls

Majid opened six fake Facebook accounts using girl's names, and got friendly with over 200 girls, most of them studying in high school from reputed and up-market institutions.

Hyderabad: Just how the youth can exploit girls using social media platforms has come to the fore with the arrest of Abdul Majid, a 21-year-old computer science student by the Cyberabad police, who played with the lives of over 200 girls through Cyber-stalking.
Cyberabad Police Commissioner C V Anand, briefing the media after the arrest, said Majid, a resident of Bholanagar, opened six fake Facebook accounts using girl's names, and got friendly with over 200 girls, most of them studying in high school from reputed and up-market institutions. "Claiming to be a new girl in town, Majid got friendly with these girls on Facebook chats over a period of one and half years, and managed to secure nude pictures from 80 of them. He was finally arrested when a parent approached us with a complaint of cyber crime," the top cop said.
Stating that Majid only targeted girls studying in Class VIII to intermediate, Anand, revealing the modus operandi of the cyber stalker, said he would build up a conversation once he gained the confidence of the victims, and invariably lead them to chat about their sexual encounters.
"If the victims responded and chatted about their experiences explicitly, Majid would then take screenshots of the conversation and tell them that he would upload the same on their Facebook wall. He would then ask for nude photos, and if the victim refused, he would threaten to send the chat history to their parents," he said, urging parents to keep a tab on their children's activities.
