BASRA - Authorities in Iraqi southern cities of Basra and Umm Qasr took delivery of the Shaikh Zayed water desalination units which were commissioned by the UAE Red Crescent as part of its humanitarian campaign to assist Iraqi people.
Head of the Red Crescent delegation Abdullah Al Dhahiri said the project underlined the President, His Highness Shaikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan's keen interest to help Iraq people at this critical time.
"The water desalination stations are expected to help tackle water crisis in south Iraq where polluted water has led to a breakout of diseases,'' he said. The Iraqi Red Crescent head in Basra thanked Shaikh Zayed for his generous support for Iraqis.
