The Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (Dewa) launched its smart campus for occupational and academic development to train government employees to become future leaders.
Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai, Minister of Finance, and president of Dewa, inaugurated the campus that also houses Dewa Academy, a smart training and learning centre, and other facilities equipped with modern technical and vocational technologies.
The campus, which spreads over 3,500 square kilometres houses 12 classrooms, three computer labs and 12 technical workshops. It will be able to train about 400 students via 600 experts.
Mohammed Saeed Al Tayer, managing director and CEO of Dewa, said the campus aims to enhance the educational system to train future leaders. "Human cadres, if well-educated, can be the basis of innovation that can develop civilisations."
Dr Yousef Ibrahim Al Akraf, executive vice-president of Business Support and Human Resources, said the centre will be a knowledge and expertise exchange platforms among local entities and ministries.
"We will train 11,500 Dewa employees and people from other local entities."
Student will receive leadership and specialised engineering courses to improve their skills in different fields using modern technologies. The programmes are of different durations depending on the nature of the course itself, said Al Akraf.
