Rasheda Badri, Deputy Director, Private Schools Department, said the database contains all the information about the teachers and the staff including their educational qualification, experience in and outside the country, date of expiry of both the employment letter and the labour card and other information mentioned in their passports. Using the database, the educational zone would be able to zero in on teachers whose qualifications do not match the subjects they teach.

A list of such teachers would be forwarded to the Ministry of Education for further action. Khadeeja Al Hosani, Head of the Private Schools Department, said the idea behind creating the database was to keep track of the teachers and administrative staff. Besides, it would also help in maintaining a healthy teacher-student ratio. And all the information about every individual teacher would be available at the click of a button since they would all be given an exclusive code. Mona Lottah, also from the Department, said the database would also help prevent teachers jumping from one school to another in the middle of the academic year for a higher salary.

The Educational Zone was not against teachers moving from one school to another provided they did it at the end of the academic year, and so long as they comply with the rules and regulations.
