A new health regulatory system that facilitates online exams for health professionals and issues fines for erring establishments was launched at the Gitex 2011 on Sunday.
With the launch of the system, healthcare professionals in Dubai can undertake their examinations from 300 centres across 130 countries.
His Highness Shaikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, officially opened the Dubai Health Authority’s online system, Sheryan (artery) was by during his tour at the Gitex.
The Ministry of Health also displayed its newly launched e-services such as the nursing appointment system, doctors’ licensing system, electronic medical assessment as well as the electronic health advertisements system.
“Healthcare professionals can apply for a licence to practice in Dubai from anywhere in the world,” said Qadhi Saeed Al Murooshid, Director-General of the Dubai Health Authority. “They can submit their applications online, the process of credentialing, which involves verifying their qualifications, experience etc. will be completely online and candidates will be notified whether they have been granted a licence to practice or not,” he said.
Dr Ramadan Ibrahim, Director of DHA Health Regulation, said: “Investors who are keen to set up a health facility in Dubai can submit their applications online and provide details of their specific project online. Our inspectors will visit the potential facility and if it meets all the rules and regulations, we will grant the licence.”
He explained that soon the DHA health regulation inspections will issue fines and register violations on health facilities online. “Health inspectors will be able to do this using iPhone or iPad applications and we will inform the facilities through the online system,” he said.
The authority also launched a vaccination programme for children. “We also have a feature for parents to view their children’s vaccination details. They can synchronize these details with their calendar to receive alerts every time their child’s vaccination is due,” said Khawla Lootah, Head of Corporate Applications Section, IT Department at the DHA.
