Drop-a-dirham drive in UAE

DUBAI - Even a dirham matters, when it comes to the needy. That’s why a campaign, Dirham Wa Bas (One Dirham Only), was launched on Wednesday, urging UAE residents to contribute at least a dirham for social care and social development projects in the country.

The Social Responsibility Fund, supported by the Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC), was announced by the Ministry of Social Affairs to encourage public participation in the fund-raising effort.

The Dirham Wa Bas campaign invites financial contributions from the public. Donation boxes have been placed across the UAE, including all Emarat petrol stations, major shopping malls and retail stores.

Launching the campaign at a Press conference in DIFC, Maryam Al Roumi, UAE Minister of Social Affairs, said: “The Dirham Wa Bas is one of the initiatives of the Fund aimed at supporting sections of the society that need our help, such as people with limited income, those with disabilities, and the elderly.

“Everyone can contribute to the campaign. All financial contributions starting from as little as one dirham are needed and appreciated.”

The campaign would tap the power of public participation in contributing towards social causes in the UAE.

Way to go for this campaign.....Yes even one dirham is enough to contribute for a cause...and help the millions of needy around the world. Such initiatives should be taken by people and should be supported as well.
