DSS calls on kids to join fashion week, sports event

DUBAI - Dubai Summer Surprises (DSS) is calling on all children to be part of its Kids Championship and Kids Fashion Week.

While the ongoing DSS is hosting free international cartoon-character shows for children, the Dubai Events and Promotions Establishment (DEPE) is enticing children to take part in these two exciting events.

Targeted at children, Kids Sports Championship, which is one of the DSS signature events for many years now, is being held at Festival Centre, Dubai Festival City, this year from July 14 to July 20. With contests for toddlers as young as eight months and for children up to ten years, the event is a fun-filled week for children and families alike. Winners also receive prizes through the week. A majority of the contests require the participation of parents as well.

Contests this year include baby crawling race, toy retrieving race, stacking race, sack race, basketball contest, tricycle race, baby marathon, three-legged race and balloon race.

Registration is free and on between 10am and 3pm from today to July 13. Forms can be filled at the Dubai Events and Promotions Establishment office located on the first floor of the Department of Economic Development building. An original passport or national ID of the child must be submitted for verification purposes. Entry is restricted to 20 participants per category.

The DPE said that Kids Fashion Week is another signature event of Dubai Summer Surprises and brings some of the renowned names in children’s fashion to the ramp. Young models between the ages of five and twelve will walk the ramp to showcase some of the trendiest designs in children’s fashion. The four-day event takes place at Deira City Centre on July 28-31.

Registrations are now on at the second level of Deira City Centre (across Banana Republic), from 12 noon to 9pm till July 12. Selected children will be professionally trained and signed up as models with Centrestage Productions for one year. Registration forms for Kids Sports Championship and Kids Fashion Week can also be downloaded from www.dubaievents.ae.
