Ammar bin Tamim, Director, Administrative Affairs, DT described this performance as “very successful” and said that the figure represents an increase of 9,347 sorties compared to the one recorded during the DSF 2004, which stood at 1,734,659 sorties during which more than 3.469 million passengers were conveyed to various destinations.

He said the number of sorties reflects the high patronage the DT services got during the festival from the various segments of society, including nationals, expatriates and visitors to the DSF 2005, which he described as “outstandingly successful”. He attributed the great success of the DSF 2005 to the fact that it commemorates the 10th anniversary of the festival, which has gained worldwide recognition.

He said the excellent coordination between the DT and the organisers of the DSF 2005 was the secret behind the success of the outstanding services the DT rendered during the festival. He added that the DT would continue to provide its services at the Village as activities there are scheduled to continue until March 31, 2005.

Meanwhile, Tamim has commended the DT’s quality control section for their excellent programming of transport movement and accuracy in the provision of transport at all points and throughout the period of the DSF 2005. He said the splendid performance of the section had reflected positively on the performance of the Dubai Transport. He thanked the private taxi cab companies contracted to support the DT for a job well-done.
