A two-year-old Australian child was saved in the nick of time by a team of Dubai Ambulance after he almost died due to choking.
Dubai Ambulance said that the child - reeling from serious influenza - was gasping and tottering on the brink of death due to lack of proper treatment.
Acting on the information received at 4:15pm on Monday, a team of paramedics swung into action and reached the location in Dubai Marina.
They arrived at the location in only six minutes to find that the child was unconscious. He was not breathing and had no pulse.

Paramedics performed cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) until the child started to breathe again, and was then taken to the Saudi German Hospital in Al Barsha, the nearest hospital to the family's house.

The emergency unit at the hospital received the child with his parents and was given further treatment. The hospital also provided him with advanced aid and oxygen.

After treatment, the child became fully conscious, and his skin's colour returned to normal. He also identified his parents.
Mohammed Mohsen Al Kafali, the head of Jebel Ali Ambulance division, said that Dubai Ambulance has ambulance stations near Marina, JBR, City Walk and Al Barsha, which allows the teams to reach these locations promptly.
