Dubai - Bakers worked round-the-clock to make 600 cakes ordered by Indian expats
From a modest 1kg sponge cake, to a more elaborate, in-your-face 30kg creation, seven master bakers at Habib Bakery in Hor Al Anz worked round-the-clock to get the job done.
"We know that independence days are such special occasions for expatriates here so our bakers worked 24-hour split shifts over three days to get the orders out to customers," Nikhil K. Das, production manager at the bakery told Khaleej Times.
So, what does it take to bake 600 show stopping cakes, we hear you ask? Well, quite a lot according to Das.
"We used 100kg of biscamix, 100 packets of whipping cream, 15 of fruit fillings, and four packets of glazing jelly. Additionally, we used 75 litres of sugar syrup, two boxes of dark chocolate and two of white chocolate as well as two boxes of vermicelli, two boxes of chocolate chips and one box of almond slices."
