DUBAI - For families in Dubai, Creek Park is a perfect haven for an afternoon get-together and an entertainment hub for children.
Indonesian woman Syarifah Fathiyah and her German husband, Wolfgang Farvor Sack, 37, take their children nowhere except to the Children’s City and Dolphinarium in the Dubai Creek Park. “The park is complete,” said Fathiyah.
“Children love to watch the dolphins and play at the Children’s City. My husband and I can join other couples chatting, sharing food and experiences while the kids go and play.”
Her two children, Fahmi, 9, and Aisha, 7, also told Khaleej Times that they enjoy going there during holidays and weekends. Fathiyah said Indonesians usually get together in the park for a family party the day after Ramadan ends, usually organised by the Indonesian Consulate-General in Dubai. “We seldom go to Safa Park because it is overcrowded, and we want to closely watch our children while sharing food and tales with other Indonesian families in a clean and spacious atmosphere.”
Activities such as bike rentals, Snow World and cable cars make up only a few of what are available to the public.
Abhigit Guttikar, another visitor to the park, said, “I really enjoy coming here. Besides the green and clean scenery and the friendly management, I really enjoy riding the cable car.”
The family of Juffrie Alsagaff, 39, and Suraya Albahar, 33, also love the park. Their two children — Salsabela, 9, and Haydar, 6 — said they like the Dolphinarium and Planetarium in the park.
“It is good for the children because these facilities in the park will educate them. They do not only enjoy their day there with other children but they also learn something,” Suraya, who is four months pregnant with her third child, added.
She revealed that sometimes they go to the Fun Fare at the back of the Waterfront in Dubai Festival City.
Andi Suhandi, 45, and wife Nia Ournia, 40, sometimes drive to Marina in Abu Dhabi and dine at the Indonesian restaurant there. But, most of the free time, they go to the Dubai Creek Park if the weather is good and to Dubai Mall’s Aquarium.
The entry ticket is priced at Dh5.
