Dubai Customs ready to receive Umrah returnees

The Dubai Customs undertook a series of measures to facilitate the entry of travellers to the DIA’s three terminals and Al Maktoum Airport terminal.

The Dubai Customs has completed preparations at the Dubai International Airport (DIA) for the return of the UAE nationals and residents who performed Umrah during the last 10 days of Ramadan.

The Dubai Customs undertook a series of measures to facilitate the entry of travellers to the DIA’s three terminals and Al Maktoum Airport terminal, including maintaining collaboration with operating airlines to handle any obstacles or potential increase in passenger numbers and rescheduling or reducing annual leaves of airport customs inspectors as required.

Ahmad Abdullah bin Lahej, Director of Customs Airport Operations, said their preparations for Umrah returnees from Makkah includes the installment of advanced baggage/handbag screening devices and conducting an inspector training session to boost their inspection and reception skills.

“These measures are aimed at saving travellers’ time and facilitating their entry to the country,” added bin Lahej.

Bin Lahej affirmed that the Dubai Customs has appointed an integrated team of professionals to supervise the preparations made for the return of Umrah performers and visitors during Eid Al Fitr.

Emirates Airlines has also entered into an agreement with them to inform them beforehand about any possible increase in passenger numbers.
