Dubai Mall Aquarium leakage under control

Dubai Mall Spokesman has said that the small leakage in Dubai Aquarium of Dubai Mall was immediately brought under control by the aquarium maintenance team.

He said the leakage did not cause any environmental effect or harm to the species.

He added that the Dubai Aquarium cooperates with the international experts in the aquarium management fields and adheres to the implementation of the world class safety specifications.

Dubai Civil Defence spokesman Mahmoud Hamad said they received information of a minor leak in the aquarium at 12.06pm.

He said two teams led by Colonel Ahmed Al Sayeq, Deputy Director of the Dubai Civil Defence from Al Qouz and Hamriya rushed to the mall and cordoned off the ground floor and basement.

Dubai Mall, one of the world’s largest shopping centers and a symbol of Dubai’s grandeur. It features the world’s largest viewing panel at 32.8 meters (107 ft 7 in) wide and 8.3 meters high. The aquarium was designed to hold more than 33,000 living animals, representing more than 85 species, including over 400 sharks and rays combined.
