According to police sources, the Operations Room of Dubai Police received a call on December 7 from a person who reported that he had found one of his colleagues, Mohammed Iqbal, lying in pool of blood inside a portakabin at a construction site in the Dubai Investment Complex.
The police rushed to the site and found Iqbal’s blood-splattered body. There were multiple head injuries that were apparently caused by a blunt weapon. An iron rod was also recovered from near the victim’s body.
The police have detained the Nepalese worker, identified as M.A., who had informed the police about the incident.
When questioned, M.A. told the police he had received a phone call from the victim who was shouting for help and, thereafter, the call got disconnected.
M.A. added, when he reached Iqbal’s portakabin, he found the watchman lying in a pool of blood. He denied any involvement in the Iqbal’s death.
Preliminary investigations have ruled out theft as a motive behind the suspected murder. However, according to the forensic report, the victim had died about three hours prior to the arrival of the police on the crime scene.
