Dubai — Two lucky 'safe drivers' won cars as part of the Dubai Police's white points system. In addition, 1,500 people won other prizes for safe driving during the ceremony held in Dubai on Sunday.
Layla Al Baloushi and Atiq Mubarak were announced as the lucky winners of the cars.
The Dubai Police also honoured sponsors of the white points system during the ceremony.
Major-General Khamis Mattar Al Mazeina, Commander-in-Chief of theDubai Police, said the system encourages safe driving and will help the police in achieving their goal of zero accident death toll by 2020.
He praised Deputy Chairman of Dubai Police and General Security Lt-General Dhahi Khalfan Tamim for introducing the system in 2012.
The white point system rewards drivers with a valid driving licence issued in Dubai if they have not committed any traffic offences in a year anywhere in the UAE.
