The Dubai Police's Traffic Department has said that the video of a tiger roaming on Dubai roads currently being circulated on social media is not taken in the emirate. Brigadier Saif Mohair Al Mazroui, Director of the General Department of Traffic, Dubai Police, said the video was shot in another GCC country, as figured out from the vehicle number plates seen in it.
The official stated that as a popular destination, people like to use and exploit Dubai's name, and that the Traffic Department did not receive any calls regarding any tiger roaming the streets, neither did the police patrols spot anything.
Lt-Col Majid Al Khazraji, Director-General of the Command and Control Room, Dubai Police, said if a tiger had indeed been spotted on Dubai's roads, the operations room would have received hundreds of calls. In such an event, the police would send many patrols and the Dubai Municipality would also intervene to protect the public.
