Residents can now have the International English Language Testing System (IELTS) at the Indian High School in Dubai.
The British Council signed an agreement with the Indian curriculum school for the world's most popular English language test on Thursday.
With the memorandum of understanding (MoU) signed by Nick Godfrey, regional manager exams, MENA - British Council and Sunil Umrao Singh, honorary chairman of IHS, the Dubai-based school becomes the first CBSE school in the MENA region to become the centre for IELTS.
"The agreement is for the students from the Indian High school and also for the wider community to take the IELTS test at the school. Interested candidates can take the test art their choice of and as per the agreement we will help them to attempt the test here. We are delighted to do this agreement with the Indian High school as it is one of the best known education centre in Dubai and is located in one of the prime locations of the city," said Nick Godfrey.
The IELTS test is accepted by over 9,000 organisations in over 135 countries worldwide including all the universities in the UK.
"Students taking this test open up the huge range of opportunities for them. It is one of the tests that can help the students in various purposes of life," Nick added while talking about the benefits of the test.
Dr Ashok Kumar, CEO, IHS, said: "We have got the facility for IELTS here and this will add value to the student community, teacher community and parent community. It is a great step towards serving the students and teachers as well as the community".
The IELTS is the world's most popular English language test. More than two million attempt the IELTS tests every year, which help candidates live, study and work around the world.
It is the only English language test accepted for immigration purposes by all countries that require one.
