The 22nd edition of the shop-ping festival opened in a typical Dubai style: With a world record feat! On Monday, the Dubai Festival City transformed into a carnival of colours with a show that combined water, fire, laser and sound.
Over 5,000 spectators thronged the venue to witness the multimedia marvel that also fused ballet and contemporary dance. Officials from the Guinness World Records attended the show as Dubai attempted the record for the largest water screen projection.
The heroine of the show was a ballerina, who danced across the water, drawing planets and stars, and also unleashing the forces of chaos. Jets of water as high as 30 metres neutralised the dark forces and the ballerina was saved!
According to the mall administration, the free-to-the-public attraction will become a daily show at the mall.
