Dubai to Explore Mysteries of Ancient Civilisations

DUBAI - Dubai will host the International Conference for Ancient Studies, which is being held in the Middle East for the first time.

The conference will be held at Raffles Hotel on November 29-30.

“The first-of-its-kind event is to gather eight of the world’s foremost experts in the fields of history, archaeology, astronomy, anthropology and geology. The experts will be speaking about the mysteries of ancient civilisations and some major discoveries made in 2007 and 2008 would be announced for the first time,” Dr Mohammed Naeemat, chairman of Adbox Events, the organiser of the event, said at a Press conference at Raffles Hotel, Dubai on Monday.

Jean-Paul Tarud-Kuborn, Trade Consul of Chile, said the speakers would present exclusive materials related to scientific and archaeological discoveries, including the latest findings in the Middle East, Europe, Asia, Africa, Australia and the Americas.

“Recently, some mummies were discovered in Chile. As per carbon dating, these prove to be older than the ancient Egyptian mummies,” he stated.

Robert Bauval, internationally acclaimed researcher and Egyptologist, said, “The change we saw in Dubai was very stunning. It is a city of a unique cosmopolitan flavour, where plenty of nationalities, cultures, religions and arts are harmoniously blended,” Bauval noted.

Revealing some of the latest discoveries, Bauval said an Egyptian tour guide, identified as Mahmoud Marai, discovered a cave with Pharaonic scriptures, heliographic signs, drawings, and sophisticated astronomical alignments in the Sahara, southwest Egypt, exactly at Jebel Al Owainat, in December 2007.

“As per carbon dating, these prove human presence, most likely of lost people, that goes back to 7000 BC. Scriptures show that the Pharaohs used to live there before moving to the banks of the Nile,” Bauval explained.

“The tombs, remains and alignments recently discovered prove that the known civilisations are much older than we know. Prehistoric fully-formed civilisations did exist.”
