The details of the remote control car racing championship, which will take place at the Hobby Centre Dubai Race Track Creek Park was announced in a Press Conference at the Dubai Cruise Terminal by the DTCM.
The event is brought to the emirate in coordination with Kyosho, a leading Japanese company dealing in remote cars.
DTCM Manager Events, Marwan bin Beyat, said that around 200 drivers from 20 countries will be in Dubai to participate in this event. The participating countries are France, Germany, Netherlands, Austria, Czech Republic, Italy, Norway, Switzerland, Australia, Japan, Hong Kong, China, Thailand, Korea, Indonesia, Singapore, Kuwait, UK, Greece and Dubai.
"Remote control car racing is one of its kind, stimulating the imaginations and interest of millions of sports enthusiasts across the globe. The fact that the exciting event is being held in Dubai speaks about the ever growing interest and commitment of the destination to attract new and novel sporting events for residents and visitors of the emirate," said Mr Bin Beyat.
He noted that the department is always pleased with being associated with major events such as Kyosho World Championship as they play a major role in projecting Dubai's image as a live dynamic international centre.
"The event commands international stature and will attract overseas media attention and visit. Such associations boost tourism in the emirate, as media and die-hard fans will present to witness the event. This places international focus on Dubai," said Mr Bin Beyat.
He noted that the department as well as Dubai appreciates Kyosho for having faith in our facilities and seriousness in promoting and holding the event.
"Dubai being unanimously selected as the venue of World Championship speaks about the confidence the company has in us and in our services," said Mr Bin Beyat.
The General Manager of Hobby Centre, Badr Al Jaziri, said that their company is always eager to bring in many such events to the emirate. "The event will witness 43 teams participating against each other. We have constructed the well equipped racetrack at the Creek side Park complying with all the requirements for international competition," he said.
He noted that the racetrack was set up to provide three major racing configurations, for On-Road cars, Off-Road Cars and also for the rally cars.
"The race track has all the amenities that a remote control car race driver needs. It is equipped with lighting systems, air compressors, pit tables, electricity and water. The most important of all is that it has AMB system, which is an advanced electronic devise that monitors performance and position in competitive racing as well as computes the time of the cars as they pass the finish line," detailed Mr.Geziry.
