The conferences are expected to attract over 10,000 participants from IHF member countries.
The conferences will be held under the patronage of Shaikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai and UAE Minister of Finance and Industry. These mega health care industry events will be organised by the IHF in conjunction with the Dubai Department of Health and Medical Services (Dohms) and Index Conferences and Exhibitions Organisation Establishment.
Abdel Salam Madani, IHF representative for the Middle East, Mediterranean and North Africa Region and Chairman of Index, said that the economic stability that the UAE enjoys under the leadership of the President, His Highness Shaikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, coupled with the support of Shaikh Hamdan, who met the IHF delegation in March, and the establishment of the IHF regional office in Dubai, all had a role in the selection of Dubai to host these major conferences.
The conferences will be supported by the UAE Ministry of Health, the Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Berlin University, Medica Duseldorf, the Euro-Asian Anesthetics Association, the Mayo Clinic, both the American and European Pharmacy Associations and the International Nursing Association.
The conferences include, The Dubai International Conference for Anaesthesia and Intensive Care, the Dubai International Conference on Pharmacy and Technology (Duphat), The Dubai International Conference on Emergency Medicine and Trauma, the Hospital Management Conference, The Dubai International Conference on Genetics, Laboratories and Medical Diagnostics, the Dubai International Conference on Nursing, and the Dubai International Conference on Medical Architecture and Hospital Design.
In December 2005, Index will also organise a conference on the latest methods to treat heart and arteries disease in cooperation with the Mayo Clinic, as well as several training courses to be held this coming September, which will be on a variety of rare medical and administrative specialties to be held for the first time in the region.
Mr Madani said that the conferences were organised only after an exhaustive study by the IHF of the region's needs in so far as continuous medical education is concerned.
He added that the UAE is among the few countries in the world that give continuous medical education great importance.
The IHF includes 120 member countries and encompasses over 89,000 hospitals and medical centres worldwide.
