The Dubai Police will observe World Day for the Fight Against Drugs at Dubai Festival City on June 23 from 10pm.
Under the patronage of Major-General Khamis Mattar Al Mazeina, Commander-in-Chief of the Dubai Police; Major-General Khalil Ibrahim Al Mansouri, Assistant Commander of CID; and in the presence of Colonel Eid Mohammed Thani Hareb, Director of General department of Anti-Narcotic, and his deputy, Colonel Khaled Saleh Al Kuwari, the police will spread awareness about the harmful effects of drug, as well as social and psychological damage suffered after using these toxins.
Observing the day reflects the government's plan to spread an anti-drug culture among all segments of society. The initiative also addressed young people in schools and universities through events and lectures, most notably the programme of "distance learning".
Lt-General Dhahi Khalfan Tamim, Commander and Deputy Chairman of General Security and Police in Dubai and Chairman of Anti-Drug Council called for putting in place all efforts to combat drugs as it is a collective matter that needs cooperation of all segments of community including parents, schools, Emirates ID Authority and security institutions. He stressed on the importance of intensifying awareness and plans to educate parents and children on the issue,
