The programme aims to enhance the ability of government departments to deliver improved e-Services to the public and the business community. Dubai e-Government has tied up with four major training institutes to deliver the training via a newly created portal www.eemployee.ae
The topics covered in the programme include introduction to key IT concepts, practical use of IT solutions and file management, Word processing, Spreadsheets and e-learning solutions.
Each employee will get, at the completion of the programme, an e-Employee certificate from Dubai e-Government and an ICDL START certification, the internationally recognised computer proficiency standard that is owned by the European Computer Driving License (ECDL) and sponsored by the Unesco's Cairo office.
"e-Employee has been launched to complement our earlier initiative e4all, which is meant to enhance IT competency among all parties involved in the delivery and use of e-Services," said Rehab Lootah, e-Services Provisioning Manager, Dubai e-Government. The new initiative will thus complete the picture of a well-knit e-Government fully geared to deliver world-class e-services."
The dedicated portal (www.eemployee.ae) will enable government employees to register and complete the course. Learners have the option of studying either on-line or through classroom training at designated training centres.
The four training courses are, New Horizons, Compubase Dubai, ExecuTrain Dubai and SitesPower Training Centre. The training will be provided by experts well versed with Dubai e-Government systems.
Each programme will consist of four modules - in English and Arabic - involving 40 hours of learning. Dubai e-Government has partnered with technology institutes of higher learning to conduct examinations that will lead to the e-Employee certification. The total cost per employee will be Dh 1,150.
"We are confident that after acquiring the ICDL certification, government employees will have a better understanding of the various IT processes and systems that support Dubai e-government's e-Services," said Ms Lootah.
