E-surveillance a must for all banks in Ajman

AJMAN — It will soon become mandatory for all banks in the emirate of Ajman to be connected to the electronic surveillance system of Ajman Police. The move is aimed at ensuring safety and security in bank establishments.

Speaking to Khaleej Times, Colonel Ali Alwan, director general of Ajman Police, said those banks that are not yet connected to the police electronic surveillance system, will be given time until December-end to get it done. “If they fail to do so, legal action will be taken against them,” Col. Alwan said.

Col. Alwan said that Ajman Municipality would provide licences to new banks only after approval from the police department for which the banks will need to be connected to the electronic surveillance system.

The Ajman police chief said that 18 electronic cameras were currently operating to provide surveillance services in different parts of the emirate. However, by the end of this year, the number of surveillance cameras will be doubled to cover all parts of the emirate, he added.

Many banks and big establishments, which have been connected to electronic cameras, are benefiting from the surveillance services provided by the police, he said. These companies have been provided with the alarm service, which is connected to the police operation room.

Col. Alwan said the police had recently set up a new unit to patrol all parts of the emirate round-the-clock and respond to any emergency quickly.
