EAD publishes a corporate calendar every year to be distributed to its governing board, employees and various national, regional and international partners.
This year, the competition is open to UAE national students from Zayed University (Abu Dhabi campus) or from the Higher Colleges of Technology (Abu Dhabi and Al Ain branches).
The theme of the 2008 eco-calendar is “The beauty of Abu Dhabi emirate”, and it has to reflect the emirate’s impressive landscape.
The designs should be submitted based on the monthly sub-themes: January – Arabian oryx among dunes; February – beautiful flowers/butterflies; March – life underwater; April – beautiful birds; May – protected areas and islands; June – scenic beaches; July – beautiful coastal scenery/mangroves; August – beautiful green landscapes/date palms; September – beautiful Jebel Hafeet; October – the beauty of the desert; November – Abu Dhabi’s Cornish, parks and gardens; December – Abu Dhabi in different weathers (sunny, cloudy, stormy).
According to EAD officials, the competition has been launched to encourage UAE national students to use their creativity and talent to help promote environmental awareness, a key step towards environmental conservation. EAD also hopes to encourage the students to pitch in to help maintain the emirate’s natural beauty for future generations.
The terms and conditions of the contests as well as more details can be viewed at http:www.ead.ae
The deadline for submitting entries is October 20.
