Emirates flight returns after 40 minutes due to a technical snag

DUBAI — Four outbound flights from Dubai International Airport were delayed yesterday morning following the emergency landing of an Emirates flight due to a technical snag.

According to passengers of EK127, an Emirates flight to Vienna which took off from Dubai at 9.47am, the aircraft had to carry out an emergency landing 40 minutes into the flight. "The aircraft took off from Dubai and everything was fine. But after some time the pilot announced that the flight was returning to Dubai due to a technical problem," said a passenger.

An Emirates spokesman confirmed the emergency landing of EK 127 and said, "Flight EK 127 experienced a technical fault and returned to Dubai at about 10.31am." He added, an investigation will be made to find out the precise cause technical fault."

The aircraft was carrying about 209 passengers. Al passengers were rebooked on the first available aircraft which left Dubai International Airport 2.45pm," he said.

A source at the Department of Civil Aviation (DCA) confirmed the delay of four other outbound flights as a consequence of the emergency landing. He said, "the runway was closed for a short while as a precautionary security measure after the Emirates aircraft made an emergency - according to international norms, and in the interest of the safety of both the passengers and the aircraft."

"Dubai International Airport offers facilities at par with international aviation standards. We always make sure the safety and convenience of the passengers comes first. After the Emirates flight landed, we were checking in the runway which is what caused the delay of the four outbound flights. However, after 20 minutes all the flights operated as scheduled," he added.
