The EMSF Safe Driving Handbook was launched at a function attended by Major-General Nasser Al Sayed Abdul Razak, Assistant Commander of Dubai Police for Operations and Equipment, who said he was pleased with the effort to produce such an informative handbook that would be of immense benefit to motorists.

Abdullah bin Sugat, chairman of EMSF, said that the handbook had been designed to be a guide on safe driving in the Emirates. He extended thanks to Dubai Police and other public and private sector organisations and agencies for their help.

"It is a practical guide that will answer many questions about safe driving," said Mr Bin Sugat. The EMSF, whose honorary president is Shaikh Saeed bin Maktoum Al Maktoum, was formed in 1987.

"While the road network in the UAE is one of the most modern and well-maintained," said Colonel Mohammed Saif Al Zafeen, Deputy Director of Dubai Traffic Police Department, "safety on the road is ultimately associated with the behaviour of all road users."

According to Khalid Al Malik, EMSF general manager, the handbook, which is at present available only in English, will be brought out in Arabic in near future.
