The Emirates Human Rights Association (EHRA) announced that its general body meeting and election to the board of directors will be held on Wednesdayat the association office in Rashidiya.
Election will be held for the seven seats in the board of directors. According to sources, a rift ensued in the former board of directors when Mohammed Al Kaabi and Khalid Al Houssani moved out of the board, led by Abdul Ghaffar Hussein, Chairman of the association, for some differences with Mohamad Al Hamadi.
The Ministry of Social Affairs, answering a question by Khaleej Times, clarified that panel of candidates is not allowed, but any member of the association can run for the election as per the rules.
As many as 330 members of the association are eligible to contest the election of the board of directors after they clear the dues of membership fees for the past years and the present year.
