The ceremony was organised by Emirates Transport for its successful employees and was held under the patronage of the Al Mansouri. The main categories awarded include: best general administration, best department, best manager, best employee, best driver, best branch of Emirates Transport and the best working team.
Addressing the attendees, the minister said: “Emirates Transport has bought 3,800 new buses and established 44 administrative offices to offer its services in all the emirates including the far flung areas.”
He also said that last year, the board of directors approved several expansion projects including 100 per cent improvement of air-conditioning in school buses at a cost of Dh100 million. “So far we have air conditioned 44 per cent of the buses,” he added.
Speaking about the ministry cars project, he said that more than 1,800 cars ordered by the Ministry Council had been designated. “The number of cars designated to drivers are 900 with a budget of Dh95 million annually which is the value of the total value of the contract with 17 federal ministries,” he said.
With reference to the transportation services offered to the non-governmental departments, the minister said that 1,100 buses and cars were being used by 400 services and users from various departments including commercial, manufacturing and economic sectors.
“The corporation owns various centres and workshops in all emirates and in 2004. It implemented 88,000 technical maintenance works in the workshops including offering services to 7,200 buses and cars affiliated to the corporation and its main clients,” he said, adding that the total revenue of 2004 reached Dh380 million.
He also said that the number of employees in 2004 was 4,700 including 3,620 drivers among whom, 780 were UAE nationals.
