The victim, a resident of the Ghaleelah area, was swept away in the valley following heavy flooding. The heavy downpour affected many areas of Ras Al Khaimah, including the Wadi Ghaleelah and Wadi Shaam.
Captain Saeed Rashid Al Yamahi, Head of the Air Wing Section of Ras Al Khaimah Police, said rescue personnel have recovered the body of the UAE national from the flooded valley and had also rescued three residents who found themselves stranded in their vehicles in the Wadi Ghaleelah.
A number of vehicles that sputtered to a stop in the flooded wadis of Ghaleelah and Shaam were also rescued by the police.
Al Ain too experienced short burst of heavy rain and some roads were waterlogged.
The new road leading to Jebail Jais was also flooded and around 100 SUVs were stuck.
An witness told Khaleej Times: ‘A military helicopter circled above us and help was on its way.’
The heavy rains that lashed RAK flooded streets, shops and homes. Traffic in many areas was reduced to a crawl and some businesses were hit traffi.
RAK residents complained of rainwater entering their homes and destroyed some of their property and the houses. Ceilings of several houses and garages were destroyed and roads flooded.
