ENDP to help train breadwinners of 350 poor families

DUBAI — Emirates Nationals Development Programme (ENDP), in collaboration with the Beit Al Khair Society, will help train breadwinners of 350 single income families that primarily rely on charity donations for sustenance.

This is the second batch of UAE nationals to be trained and recruited through the ENDP-Beit Al Khair Society partnership. The first batch included 38 UAE nationals of varied age groups and educational backgrounds.

Azzah Al Sharhan, director of ENDP, said yesterday, “The programme’s objective is to empower the heads of underprivileged UAE national families that depend on charity donations for their living. We will provide them with the knowledge and skills required to start a career, stay independent and take on an active role in the society.”

Mohamed Baker, general manager of Beit Al Khair, said: “In collaboration with ENDP, we will ensure that breadwinners of sole-income national families receive suitable job placements and end their dependence on charity.

“Most of the UAE nationals that we interviewed revealed they were unable to find jobs either due to lack of experience and education or because they were past the retirement age. Through our exclusive alliance with several private sector companies to train UAE nationals, ENDP will give them a fresh lease of life to ensure their integration into the workforce.”

Since June 2006, ENDP has facilitated the recruitment of over 2,400 UAE nationals in the private sector.
