Winners of 12th edition of Emirates Environmental Group (EEG) Environmental Drawing Competition were felicitated at a ceremony held in Dubai on Tuesday.
The EEG received 1,215 entries from 384 schools, which saw the participation of over 65,000 students, for the competition.
The contest is aimed at fostering creativity of the young generation and maximise awareness on sustainability issues among students.
The awarding ceremony commended the talented young artists and exhibited the 36 winning entries with strong environmental messages, creating a bright and colourful scene. Each of the marvellous drawings held a unique perception of the current environmental challenges and demonstrated hope, which the youth holds for a sustainable future.
Habiba Al Mar'ashi, EEG chairperson said: "This year witnessed the highest ever participation rate from schools since the inception of the programme.
The contest included three themes, which were in line with the most current environmental issues and developments. The Year of Zayed for those aged between 12-16 years; Ocean Pollution: Leave No Plastic for students (9-11) and My Sustainable Classroom (6-8). The winning students received gifts and vouchers for purchase of exceptional art material.
