Error by users, not Salik fault: RTA

DUBAI — A study recently carried out by the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) on Salik’s overall functioning has revealed that most complaints reported by subscribers are the result of procedural errors made by users while completing their Salik application forms or while recharging.

“Providing wrong contact details on the application form was on the top of the list of errors made by Salik users and providing wrong pin code and account number while recharging came second on the list,” said officials. They also said that some errors occurred when Salik users did not cancel their accounts while selling their cars or in the event of a card corruption.

Engineer Maitha Bin Adai, CEO of the RTA’s Roads and Traffic Agency said: “To enhance the ease of use and to avoid errors, Salik users must follow the instructions and procedures which will enable them to use the system in the best way.”

Eng Maitha said the RTA was strictly monitoring the Salik operations and was keen to offer integrated solutions for the roads and transport systems in Dubai to develop an ideal traffic infrastructure.

She added: “Motorists who do not want to use the toll roads can use the Dubai Crossing Road which links Sharjah with Abu Dhabi; the Emirates Road which has been expanded from three to six lanes; and the floating bridge which links the end of Al Ittihad Street near City Centre to Al Riyadh Street in Bur Dubai.”
