The selection of the Trent 700 powered A330-200 aircraft is a significant step by the airline in establishing its long-term new aircraft fleet plan. Mike Terrett, President, Civil Aerospace, Rolls-Royce, said: "I'm delighted to welcome Etihad Airways as the latest member of the Trent 700 operators' family. The combination of Trent and A330 continues to prove a reliable and flexible partnership, nowhere more so than in the Middle East where to date 80 per cent of A330 take offs in the region are Trent powered - a point underlined by today's announcement."

Etihad becomes the 28th Trent 700 customer. A total of 175 Rolls-Royce - powered A330s have been ordered, resulting in the engine's leading market share of 37 per cent.

The new aircraft, which will be delivered in May and September 2005, will be used on Etihad's expanding route network throughout the Middle East as well as on international services to the Far East and Europe.
