The nomination, conducted online by IT Weekly magazine clearly indicated that Etisalat is the preferred operator choice for business users in the region. The magazine’s publisher collected nominations and readers were then invited to vote amongst a short-list of five contenders.

The 2006 IT Weekly Arab Technology Awards, was held in line with the inaugural telecom event, GulfComms and the Gulf Information Technology Exhibition (GITEX) 2006, which is celebrating 26 years of innovation across the Middle East.

The award honours and celebrates local and regional technology pioneers, leaders and educators of the Arab World, that have made the Middle East ICT market what it is today.

Ahmed bin Ali, Manager Corporate Communications, Etisalat, said, “Being voted online as best specialist ICT service company of the year is especially rewarding for Etisalat at this point in time as we seek to provide our valued customers with comprehensive solutions to extend their reach.”

The IT Weekly Award complements the excellent track record of Etisalat in winning customer recognition. Last September, Etisalat grabbed two awards namely “Overall Operator of the Year” and “Customer Care of the Year” in the Middle East and North Africa by CommsMEA in addition to “Customer Service” and “GCC Economic Award” by Datamatix Group.
