The Dar Al Ber Society, in a bid to support low-income people be productive rather than seeking or accepting assistance, has run a special exhibition for displaying their products.
The third edition of the annual fair, themed 'My Small Project', was organised in the Ras Al Khaimah Mall where indigent families, be they Emiratis or expatriates, had a good chance to exhibit and sell their products.
The fair saw the participation of low-income families and inmates of the RAK Punitive and Correctional Department.
Ali Abdullah Al Shehi, manager of the Dar Al Ber Society, RAK branch, said the exhibition is aimed to give a boost to community development and help needy people be positive rather than negative.
"The programme helps low-income people be productive and self-sufficient, and gives a chance to skillful people to showcase their products and display their creativity."
"The event witnessed participation of a 60-year-old Emirati woman who was so keen to market her traditional cuisine."
A widowed woman exhibited some clothes she manually sewed, Al Shehi elaborated, adding a number of inmates, as well as some Arab and Asian residents were also present."
The Dar Al Ber Society here supports these vulnerable segments of the society. "This is in coordination with the concerned government entities which ease due procedures, and exempt them from subscription fees."
