DUBAI — Despite the summer heat, the advanced facilities at Modhesh Fun City have made it a big draw. It is attracting an increased number of visitors from within the UAE and from AGCC countries. Without a doubt, children are the main beneficiaries of games and zones organised within Modhesh Fun City although numerous activities have been specially designed for adults.
Khalid Al Marri, a businessman from Doha, Qatar, who is on his second visit to Dubai after a gap of almost 20 years, says he is astounded by what he has been seeing in the past couple of days. “I just cannot believe the kind of growth Dubai has achieved in the past two decades. Every time I see construction works, it makes me wonder in amazement at the pace at which this city is moving forward.”
“This is my first DSS visit and I’m glad I made the choice to come to Dubai during this period. My children, Hassa and Muhammad, are thrilled to be here and they’re looking forward to meet Modhesh. As for myself, I’m trying to make the most of the shopping promotions in outlets. I think this is the best time to shop for high-quality goods,” he added.
While some children enjoy the rides, and some take advantage of the free games, some of them, like Yousuf Ijtehadi are clearly glued to the electronic games. “This is my favourite zone and I spend a lot of time trying to beat my own score in car games,” he said.
Not many come with their parents; in fact, some children get together and come as a group so that they can enjoy the numerous zones at leisure.
Fourteen-year-old Saeed, 13-year-old Khalfan, 12-year-old Waleed, and 10-year-old Mayed are all friends who came to Modhesh Fun City as a group. Saeed says that coming together with friends is more exciting and thrilling. “Coming as a group is more thrilling because we get the chance to explore Modhesh Fun City while trying every game and zone. Sometimes, we compete against each other in some games and then we all go to buy some snacks and then we rest before going home.”
