The Ferrari World in Abu Dhabi has allayed fears of any safety concerns after a roller coaster in the park stopped abruptly with 24 passengers onboard, on Friday.
All the passengers were rescued and escorted off the Flying Aces ride that stopped due to weather conditions, according to the management of the only-Ferrari-themed park in the world.
"In fact we are more confident than ever (after the incident) regarding our safety systems. The system knows where exactly it should work," Jesse Vargas, General Manager of Ferrari World told Khaleej Times.
"The train stopped 20 metres outside the station and the guests were escorted down the set of stairs. It is not as dramatic as it may sound," he added.
Vargas said they invited all 24 passengers back to the park, and 22 have accepted the invite.
"I think that pretty much sums up their experience and how it was handled. They are all coming back to the park soon," he said.
A statement the theme park issued to Khaleej Times said the guests were ascending the rollercoaster, which features the tallest inverted loop in the world, as well as the fasted cable lift, when the incident happened.
"Ferrari World Abu Dhabi's teams helped each person leave the ride safely and securely down the staircase to the station within an average time of 3.5 minutes each, where they were well looked after,"read the statement.
The official noted that ride was forced to close for the rest of Friday, but resumed its regular operation on Saturday.
Explaining the safety features at the park, the general manager said there are two parts to their safety mechanism. "First is the human aspect. That part looks after the safety and well-being of the guests. Second part is our mechanical system in place that would - if there is an issue detected - stop the operation and have the human aspect to review the right operations," said Vargas.
