DUBAI - The Dubai Civil Defence yesterday conducted a fire and evacuation drill in the premises of the Hatta Fort Hotel in the presence of Lieutenant Colonel Mohammed Saleh Bidah, Deputy Director-General of Dubai Civil Defence.
Also present during the drill were Major Mohammed Abdullah bin Naseeb, head of the Fire Stations Section, and Captain Rashid Khalifa Al Falasi, head of the Training Unit, and officers and personnel from the Dubai Police Rescue and Transport Department.
A 'case of fire' was reported on the second floor of the five star hotel. Firemen from Hatta fire station rushed to the place immediately after receiving the 'emergency call'. The Civil Defence Operations Room informed the Hatta police station about the incident and it also sent its units to the hotel.
Immediately after reaching the place, the fire-fighters secured the petrol station and farm houses adjacent to the hotel to ensure that the fire did not spread. They also undertook rescue, area control and fire fighting operations.
The aim of the drill was to put the fire-fighting operational plan to test and examine the efficacy of command and control procedures and coordination mechanisms.
