Participating for the first time in the Gulf Education and Training Education (Getex) at the Dubai International Convention Centre, Mohammed Hettini, the College's Sales Marketing and Business Development manager told Khaleej Times, that the college established in 1997 as a vocational training centre, has now expanded into a full-fledged institution offering short courses as well as two-year higher diploma programmes in fire safety management.
Currently, the institution has around 650 students, a majority from Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Oman, Bahrain and Kuwait. There are a small number from the UAE, but we hope to attract more students to train them in a new emerging career of fire safety officers at airports and factories, in addition to oil and gas industry professionals in the petroleum and crude oil rich countries, Hettini said.
Explaining the small presence of UAE students at the institute, Hettini attributes to lack of awareness about the institution and the programmes in the region.
