Five Pharmacies Shut
Down Temporarily

DUBAI — The Ministry of Health (MoH) has temporarily shut down five pharmacies in the Northern Emirates for violating regulations. The violations were detected last month during a night inspection, which is part of the ministry’s intensified vigil against the pharmaceutical industry.

“We have increased inspections to ensure safety and quality of medical products and drugs available in the country,” said Dr Amin Hussain Al Amiri, CEO for Medical Practice and Licence at the ministry.

“We have intensified the checks and are carrying out inspections day and night,” he said. Among the violations recorded, the pharmacies were found to be selling expired drugs and at higher prices, mixing food supplements with drugs, and selling drugs without prescription and hiring unlicensed assistant pharmacists.
