The project, to be set up in an area between Bani Yas and Al Maktoum roads (close to Hilton Creek), would consist of 12 water fountains with a total length of 42 metres and width of 14 metres, said Mohammed Hassan Al Ali, Head of Projects Design Section at the General Projects Department of Dubai Municipality. He noted that the project forms part of the municipality’s efforts to provide the city with beautiful recreational facilities. Work on the project would begin next month and will be completed by June 2006.

“We have allocated a total area of 4,700 sq. metres for this project. Apart from the fountains, the remaining area would be set up as a plaza which will give residents an open place to unwind,” said Al Ali.

He noted that water pressure of the fountains will be as high as seven metres, which means it can be seen from the Bani Yas Street. “The fountain will be lit up with special multi-colour bulbs,” he added.

The plaza would consist of shaded areas with wooden benches, children’s sitting corner, slope areas with marble-paved seats, covered areas to protect visitors from tough climatic conditions, and two podiums for displaying cars. Landscaping would be done with coconut trees and seasonal flowers while flooring will be made of multi-colour tiles, Al Ali said.
